Tasmanian Wildlife

The area around Cradle Highlander abounds in Australian native wildlife.

Around the cabins you can expect to see Rufus wallabies (pademelons), Bennetts wallabies, brushtail possums, wombats and currawongs. If you are lucky, you might also see an echidna, Tasmanian devil or spotted tail quoll. Inside the Cradle Mountain National Park, you are likely to see all these animals. And, if you are quiet enough around the lakes and creeks, you might even see a platypus.
